Is it still right that they do not freeze student loans when we are off on maternity leave? So all women in this country, who choose to take leave to look after their child go on to pay interest on their loan, which rockets after a year of not contributing to payments… let along three, as I took off one year per child.
I have become aware that I am still working my butt of paying off my student loan, when all my male friends and relatives have already paid off theirs, when some of them chose to doss about for years and when I have have been in really stressful and better paid jobs working my fingers to the bone.
How can this be acceptable in this day and age? We accrue interest for the year of maternity and we pay more interest on top of that for all the subsequent years we have the loan as it is effectively higher…
Why are we not doing anything about it - we are half the flipping population!!! Shall we just roll
over and take some more for the team?
I now have three girls and want this changed before they decide to have families of their own. Does anyone know if this is still happening???
Am I being unreasonable to consider this another complete kick in the fucking teeth for modern day females ?
