To ask if anyone else has ever experienced this breast pain or should I get checked out?

Over the last few days I’ve had an on and off pain in the bottom of right breast. No other symptoms, no lump but it’s sporadic and aches a lot. It only lasts a few seconds then goes and then comes back randomly throughout the door, few seconds at a time. Has any one else experienced something like this or should I get checked at the GP?

Get it checked. Put ur mind at rest OP.

Always get it checked, always.

I didn't and was diagnosed stage 4.....

shivawn · 29/10/2023 21:28

Most likely nothing but always get things checked on the off chance it isn't.

Yes go to the GP - if only to ease your mind.

I had something similar in the bottom outside side of my right breast - I tried changing my underworked wired bra/wearing a soft bra to bed/waiting for 2-3 months but in the end went to the GP who referred me straight away to the breast clinic.

Had mammogram/ultrasound/physical tests - all came back clear thankfully. No idea what caused it I am afraid - they thought muscular pain from some activity - but it has gone now!

I’ve had this and was referred for a mammogram which was normal. The doctor said it was most likely nerve pain, and it did stop after a few months.

Get it checked. They should refer you to the breast clinic just to make sure. Cancer doesn't normally cause pain but they can check for any cysts or scarring that might cause the pain.

As I discovered, sometimes there's no explanation they can give for it, it's just yet another "one of those things" people with breasts have to deal with. I had pain in one breast for several months and then it went away as quickly as it had arrived. There was no explanation for it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would just get checked regardless, even if you did find someone with similar pain that was fine, they’re not you.

I found a lump a couple of years ago, I went straight to docs, he could feel it too and referred me to the hospital for it checking, on the two week urgent pathway they offer. At the appointment I had a chat with a doc and an ultrasound and it turned out to be scar tissue. I felt it for a few more months after that and haven’t felt it since.

I know it can seem daunting but it’s best to catch things early if it is anything. I know someone who left a lump for almost a year, it wasn’t good news when she finally went but thankfully she is ok now.

Please get checked op, it will out your mind at ease.

Definitely get it checked out. With hindsight, it was probably the first and only (until I found a massive breast lump months later) sign that I had stage 3 breast cancer.

That said, my oncologist told me that in the overwhelming majority of women, breast pain is NOT a sign of cancer, and is just one of those random things. I hope that's the case for you.

Createausername1970 · 29/10/2023 22:11

I have just been referred to a breast clinic as I have pain in my armpit.

I didn't even see my GP. I phoned reception and explained I would like a referral for a mammogram. I then had a telephone consultation with a practice nurse the following day and she said she would sort out a referral. Two days later the clinic phoned to make an appointment.

If you have any doubts, then phone you surgery. As @ChocoChocoLatte says, you never know. My friend is about to start Chemo, and she had a lump she didn't get checked, that is what spurred me to make the phone call.

I'm experiencing this right now! It started this morning, had to use a hot water bottle to ease the pain! I did do a lot of heavy lifting yesterday so hoping it's down to that?!
I have a smear booked tomorrow so will see if they can check it over. Will update tomorrow x

I have hormone related breast pain in my left breast and have for about a year now. Initially I got it checked out but the breast clinic reassured me it wasn't anything sinister.

But ANY changes in your breasts should get checked out.
