To think this is Covid for the FIFTH time?

Was at a wedding all day yesterday - absolutely fine. Had a great sleep last night, got up this morning, felt fine, but tired due to dark morning but nothing unusual.

Went into office, fine. Went on a visit and midway through the visit my nose just started streaming, it would not stop no matter how much I blew it, I had to actually apologise to service user. I continued, went on another visit, same thing.

Started getting a bit achy and nose just so stuffed and running like a tap. Then my eyes just became really itchy and now they are all red and swollen. I've no appetite so haven't had dinner, have had diarrhoea.

Laying in bed and I cannot sleep, I never struggle with my sleep. Despite being so exhausted since symptoms started I am lying in bed wide awake. Headache starting now and tickle cough.

It couldn't be Covid for the FIFTH time surely? I'm honestly worried my work will think I'm at it. But I work for local authority in partnership with health care so can't be in the office and out and about doing visits but just so worried they think I'm lying as it's so many times since 2020.

Why wouldn’t it be covid. Whatever immunity you have seems to confer little protection against repeat infection. You don’t actually have to stay off work now unless you are properly ill (which you do seem to be to be fair !) Get well soon

I've had it 5x. It's awful. Stay home. Get well. If you manage a test, from experience, testing window is daily testing day 3 through 5 for best chance at accurate results. Some strains are notoriously evasive often due to so little of virus needed to make one sick. False negatives are common, hence the proliferation of the virus and people believing they don't have covid.

It definitely can be Covid. Herd immunity is a lie. Because we aren't trying to control its spread, new variants are developing that evade immunity. That's why we really need to try and stop the spread! Ventilation, air filtration, masking, isolation etc.

I'm afraid every infection, however mild, will leave its mark on your body.

Could also be flu

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/10/2023 08:55

I've only had Covid once, but one of my colleagues has had it 7 times and another one has had it 9 times!

Whether it's Covid or a bad cold, if you're not well enough to work then you need to stay in bed.

Dammitthisisshit · 25/10/2023 08:55

Could be for sure, or could be another bug. Why not test?

Melodysmum12 · 25/10/2023 08:58

If you need to know, do a test but it could be any of the viruses going about. Personally I base work attendance on how poorly I am, not on whether it’s covid or not…

Fellatfirsthurdle · 25/10/2023 08:59

Could be an allergy? But that probably wouldn't explain headache. My daughter's had it 5 times and me 4. It's very annoying. Given your job out and about in the community I'd say you're more likely to get it regularly.
