Sorry this is such a boring one but could use some help if anyone can.
I run a business and rely heavily on Instagram for marketing. During 2020 I posted lots of memes in stories, just to lighten the mood 😅 One, pictured, was removed by Instagram, as being against community guidelines, "suggestive of child pornography". I was penalised, my account was restricted for three days, I couldn't message or reply to messages. Fair enough.
Two weeks ago I got the same notification that the story has been removed and I was restricted for another three days. Even though three years had passed since I posted it. I requested a review, which was rejected, but figured it was a glitch and let it go.
This morning I got the same notification again, with the same restrictions.
I don't know what this is doing to my algorithm and I don't know how many times this is going to happen!
To be clear, the story was posted once, in 2020. The only options I seem to be given are to "request a review" but nobody reviewing seems to notice that it was three years ago 😭
Is there a way to get through to a real person, does anyone know?
Aibu to post such a boring aibu?

Stop faffing around and try and set up a new Instagram account using a different email address: it was a pretty dumb thing to post on a business account - I'm not surprised it got picked up - I doubt there is much you can do. Always worth having a backup account that your clients know about to cover for just such an eventuality - SM companies are not and powerful and not always as well staffed/resourced/managed as you might like it expect - they do unreasonable things sometimes - not much you can do about that I'm afraid.

Can you scroll back and delete it?

I shared/reposted a video once, that after a while, I got a notification to say I can't use the music on it, they are muting it. I appealed under in the public domain/fair usage. Months and months later, another notification. Then same thing, same thing. I just keep appealing it for the fuck of it now.

What the heck is that picture 😲

selfselfiequeen · 24/10/2023 23:26

Why would you post that ?

Mydogmybestfriend · 24/10/2023 23:28

I can see why they would think that is inappropriate

Ivegotsunshineinabag · 24/10/2023 23:30

What? Really? It’s a cute picture…I can see why the algorithm banned it, but it’s about as innocent as they come.

OP, I don’t know how to get round it, but I’d love to know what you’re selling.

Daffidale · 24/10/2023 23:35

You should definitely delete it. Are you sure you’ve done that? When they let you back in go back and make sure it’s properly removed from your account.

You may disagree with the ban but if business is relying on Instagram you need to suck it up and play by their algorithmic rules. It looks like a joke post/story that isn’t relevant to your business. Remove it and move on. It’s not worth getting restricted or banned over. Appealing and asking for review is unlikely to get you anywhere

WHALESURPRISE · 24/10/2023 23:40

What in earth is your business that you'd consider that a suitable meme to post? 😆

catin8oots · 25/10/2023 00:06

😱 what the fuck?

needtonamechangeagain · 25/10/2023 00:33

Instagram is a bit glitchy atm, I'd suggest logging out of all devices, restarting and access the account via a different browser or phone and see if that works for you.

Lots of our clients are getting similar notifications or saying "breach of guidlines"

BoothsChristmasBook · 25/10/2023 03:05

If you rely heavily on Instagram for your business don't post horrible memes like that one.

@Daffidale thank you. I had assumed that insta had deleted it at the time but just went back and checked and it was still in my archive. Deleted now, and hopefully that will help! Thank you x
