To think I've accidentally invented a new art form

😂
Every so often, I rehydrate a jug of sun-dried tomatoes and stick 'em in a jar with some herbs and oil. I lazily 'sterilise' the jar by swilling it with boiling water.

I forgot this jar was plastic.

I'm rather pleased with the result! Squished by one very surprised hand, my jar became an expression of fluidity. Stable despite its irregular shape, it speaks to the balance that may be found in remaining flexible. It reminds us that to be fluid means to become level, no matter the circumstances. It's a glorious celebration of freedom. Or some such claptrap.

Enjoy this extraordinary work of inadvertent sculpture!

You could do this deliberately, making all sorts of interesting shapes. Not that I'm going to.

Oooh, I like that! Bet we can guess how they came up with the design.

Oh I've done this many a time with various plastic containers....lol. Plastic meat trays destined for recycling often end up in weird shapes as they are in the sink when I pour out boiling water from saucepans.

I love that you still used it after it’s “artification “

GarlicGrace · 24/10/2023 05:14

ARTIFICATION is a word that should definitely exist!

Sundried tomatoes are so 90s! But i love them. Haven't had them in years, will be putting on the shopping list now! Nom nom. Funny how you can forget foods that way 😬

Calling · 24/10/2023 10:01

Certainly, the current paradigm is expressed here by the clenched hand motif, a metaphor for this century, contrasted with the fluidity of the tomatoes (a metaphor again for the brain) struggling to redefine parameters of existentialism.

Merryoldgoat · 24/10/2023 10:08

See how the artist shows their mastery of light and shade, bringing depth to the lower portion of the work with carefully recessed surfaces juxtaposed with the smooth protrusions. Truly majestic.

Sundried tomatoes are so 90s!

This is an important part of the piece. It speaks to the timelessness of art. What is old is new. What is gone is back again. 😉

OMG, these art reviews are superb! You should all get jobs as pretentious twerps revered gallery curators immediately 😂

Was once making mushroom tea and poured boiling water into a lucozade bottle and it immediately turned into a giant lucozade balloon. It kept on getting bigger and thinner but luckily stopped before it split

GarlicGrace · 24/10/2023 16:15

a giant lucozade balloon 😂 I would love to have seen that 😂
