Why am I cleaning my house for a 5yo?

Looking after DS’s friend today - they are 5.

I just realised I am manically cleaning the house in preparation with the thought of what if X goes home and says “Bens mummy’s house is really dirty”
or something along those lines… or what if when they drop him off his mum wants to use the loo and is offended by the washing in the loo/utility.

the house is actually ok anyway, and I am sure five year olds don’t care. I need to give my head a wobble, don’t I?

😂 I feel like it’s going to be a long half term.

I used to be vaguely embarrassed when children went home with dirty socks from running around my kitchen.

Only vaguely.

Ha ha I once had a play date where all was going well until the guest child lost a much loved pencil top which the mother was convinced must have slipped under the sofa .
oh the shame at having to lift the sofa up and discover all the treasure underneath🙈

Several years ago a friend and her 3 year old came over. Said three year old walked into my children's bedroom and exclaimed, with disgust, "It's so messy in here!"

Sometimes, children are judgey.
