I love weetabix but it is just so bloody expensive now!! Can you recommend any shop brands that taste the same? I need my weetabix!!

Lidl’s Bixies are distinctly different. They are noticeably bigger & slightly denser than weetabix and absorb much more milk if allowed to do so. I actually prefer them

They are made with whole wheat so taste so much nicer. I don’t have a Lidl and when in the UK I stock up and hope DD remembers to bring some home with her.

Sainsbury’s own brand are identical to Weetabix. I certainly can’t tell the difference and I would be amazed if they weren’t made in the same factory.

I prefer Lidl’s too because they are denser, definitely not as crumbly.

My partner says Tesco and Morrison’s own brand ones taste the same as the original to him and there’s lots of own brand stuff he won’t eat.

I prefer the tesco one. Real weetabix tastes a bit cardboardy and skinny in comparison.

Lidl bixies are nice but I remember buying Morrisons basics once, Jesus they were small rectangular bricks that reminded me of maternity pads and seemed to repel liquid, we binned them and I am not normally someone who will waste food.

Aldi used to literally print the weetabix logo on the back of the boxes to show who theirs were made by. That's when a lot of people learned that big brands make an awful lot of the supermarket own brand stuff.

We haven't found a supermarket own wheat biscuit cereal that we haven't enjoyed and we've tried Asda/Aldi/Tesco/Sainsbury's. Mostly they taste pretty much the same. In fact most cereals I'm prepared to buy an own brand version of, even if they're not quite as good it's worth the massive cost saving. Cheerios is the only one we haven't found an an acceptable copy of, nobody else does those right.

A lot of these brand name foods are manufactured in the same factories. DH worked for Unigate Daries for a while and they made cheese, yoghurt for all sorts, including M&S. I buy Co-op version weetabix, tastes and looks like the original.

Sorry but there isn't a decent substitute. We went through all the major supermarkets we have near us trying their own brand and NONE matched up to weetabix for us. I've happily swapped other cereals to own brand but cant do weetabix.

Don't get the new weetabix protein ... I bought it accidentally when DS was having an epic supermarket meltdown and now have to eat all of it because it's too expensive to chuck. It's vile.

Same here. Now I stock up when they're on special. We're (I'm) currently going through a weetabix lull so not eating as much.

My ex delivered to their factory a few years ago and was given a box of just of the line boxes, all different supermarket ones in their with the branded one!
