Hello MN

AIBU to ask what jobs you all do and whether or not you enjoy them? Would also be really interested to - if possible!!!! - hear what you earn, and if you could turn back time whether or not you would choose the same career!

Happy to go first in the interests of transparency :)

I used to earn £57k PA working in the treasury function at a bank. Prior to that I earned around £45k doing a different non-treasury role at the same bank. Before that I earned £35k in a consulting role, and before that I was actually.... an intern at mumsnet! I am now 28 and re-training to do something else entirely, funded by my future employer.

My parents did not go to university and I feel very lucky to have had some of the opportunities I have had. I feel like my life could have been very different and that luck has played as big a part as working hard.

What do you do and do you think it is due to luck or hard work?

Hoping to hear some interesting responses :)

So I know this is an older thread but it popped up for me and I always thinks it’s interesting to hear what people do. :)

I’m 41 and recently trained as a CNA (certified nursing assistant); I don’t know what they’re called in the UK. I work overnights at an elder care facility and make $22.25 an hour, which Google tells me is £17.49.

I like it a lot actually! The night hours work well for my schedule and it’s physically taxing but not terribly hard. I love the people and like caring for others.
