I am extremely nervous and I have my third driving test tomorrow. I've failed both previous tests due to terrible nerves.

I'm absolutely fine in lessons. I have prescribed a low dose of propranolol from the doctor and will be doing my best today to do some stuff to help keep busy and keep calm.

Please send all your thoughts of luck I need everything now 🥲

Forget the other tests. Try to keep calm (easier said than done)
Good luck 🍀

CesareBorgia · 22/10/2023 16:09

Best of luck! Shamrock

VillanellesCoat · 22/10/2023 16:12

Good luck! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

SeaPool · 22/10/2023 16:19

Third time lucky. I know several people who passed on the third attempt.

You're going to sail through it.

ReturnOfTheRainMac · 22/10/2023 16:29

Everything crossed for you. If it helps, it took me 4 attempts.

Keep calm! Pay attention. Check those bloody mirrors.

INeedAnotherName · 22/10/2023 16:55

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow!! 🍀

Try to convince yourself your usual instructor is off sick and this is their replacement, then drive as you normally would 😉

theduchessofspork · 22/10/2023 16:57

Breath and stay calm.

Completely normal to have a few goes at it.

Good luck!

HirplesWithHaggis · 22/10/2023 16:59

You have my nervous sympathies, and best wishes for tomorrow.

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 22/10/2023 19:33

Thank you all

It was third time lucky for me too! You've got this. 🍀🍀🍀 Keep us updated after your test.

Mollypolly2610 · 22/10/2023 19:51

Third time for me too you'll easily do it.
Take some rescue remedy.

TiredMamOfTwo · 22/10/2023 19:52

I passed third time and if I passed anyone can pass. Grin

Good luck you've got this!

LadyLolaRuben · 22/10/2023 21:14

Very best wishes OP. Deep slow breaths in and out to calm your breathing x

Orangesquashed · 22/10/2023 21:16

Good luck OP! When I get nervous I try and pretend the situation is just normal. Eg a job interview becomes a normal meeting with a client for work, so a driving test could just be a normal lesson.

KeithChegwinFromExtrasPopKnob · 22/10/2023 21:23

Goooooood luuuuuuck! X

SnakeyS · 22/10/2023 21:32

Good luck op!

How did it go @TheWristBoundLatexBitch ?

If well, congratulations!
If badly, what happened? Was it luck of the draw?

I had reverse around a corner on two tests and instantly knew I would fail.

Missed this yesterday but really hope
It went well.

OhDoSitDownAndShutUp · 23/10/2023 19:46

If you make a mistake, don't panic - just correct yourself and carry on. Keep an eye on your speed. I failed 5 tests before I passed when I was 38. Good luck.

Itwasamemo1 · 23/10/2023 19:47

Aah Good Luck for tomorrow.Xx

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 23/10/2023 20:56

Looks like I'll need more luck for my fourth try! It actually went well I just messed up because of nerves right at the beginning. Unfortunately the mess up was a major! Only 2 minors though

awwwww, that's a shame. But at least tell yourself you are becoming more desensitised to the tests. I'm wondering if you've become too comfortable with your instructor so a different person next to you is throwing you off rather than the actual test.

My SIL failed 5 tests, went with a different instructor for a few lessons (in the days when you got retests in weeks not months) and sailed through her 6th. Examiner even complemented her on the smoothness. Worth a thought?

Tenegrief · 23/10/2023 22:02

I was EXACTLY the same as you. I was (am) a really good driver but I just fell apart in the tests. Not to worry you but it took me 6 times to finally pass. However, it took me AGES to figure out what was going on... I genuinely didn't know I was nervous/anxious (sounds bizarre but it's totally true). So you're way ahead of me in that department.

I think the key to finally passing for me was not telling anyone I had the test. Literally no one apart from my driving instructor knew. I think this helped to take the pressure off enough for me to get through.

This might sound crazy but it's now, 20 years later, one of the things I'm most proud off - I'm genuinely chuffed with myself at the tenacity and strength it took to pick myself up after every fail and have another go.

ReturnOfTheRainMac · 23/10/2023 23:01

So close! Don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get there.
