Covid top up refusal for now is this a mistake

justasking111 · 19/10/2023 15:15

My last thread was removed at the request of the author ME which it certainly wasn't!!

I'm just worried that if we refuse for the time being are we sidelined, if so is this reasonable?

why don't you want it?

DidntHaveTheLatin · 19/10/2023 15:17

Sorry, I don't quite know what you mean - are you saying you want to refuse at the moment but reserve the right to have it later down the line if you change your mind?

Pushkinini · 19/10/2023 15:19

Surely you can opt out now if you want, but opt back in again in future? You might not receive auto invites, but I'm guessing you could probably call to book back in if you wanted.

Sk8erboi · 19/10/2023 15:19

It was probably refused as you've put an outing message on here with personal details on.
Assuming you're worried about saying no and being denied later down the line?
Call the vaccinations team and ask if this is the case

kittykarate · 19/10/2023 15:20

I guess you could probably talk to your GP and get a vaccination if you want one next round, but replying "2" will stop you getting automatic invites.

Coffeerum · 19/10/2023 15:21

Who would sideline you and why?

J316 · 19/10/2023 15:24

All your details are in your screenshot 🫤

thing47 · 19/10/2023 15:25

It means they'll assume you don't want any further boosters, so you won't get automatic reminders. There's no indication in the message you've posted that you can't opt back in at a later date.

Yes, of course that's reasonable.

Monkeymonkeymoo · 19/10/2023 15:25

You won’t be sidelined in future (for the vaccine or any other vaccines/medical treatment).
If you decline the appointment you’ll just need to contact the GP or clinic if you change your mind. Obviously you might have a little bit of a wait if the vaccine appointments are then fully booked.

NashEnquirer · 19/10/2023 15:26

Isn't the only personal detail in the screenshot the (very common) first name of the patient - surely the name of the health trust and location of the vaccine centre can't be identifying?

YireosDodeAver · 19/10/2023 15:27

If the date and time don't work for you reply 1.

Rebook a different date that works for you.

That's all the flexibility you get. The logistics of getting a vaccine to everyone who needs it is immense. You can either cooperate or opt out. Special pathways for people who don't want to cooperate with the smooth running of the process slow everything down and ultimately reduce the number of vaccines given. Why would anyone reasonable choose to do that?

Yabu to describe it as being "sidelined" if you don't have someone dedicated to adapting the offer further on your behalf if you can't deal with booking a date and time that suits you.

LivMumsnet · 19/10/2023 15:41

Hello there, @justasking111 - apologies for taking down your thread. Our mistake. It was reported for containing identifying details and we thought you'd asked for it to be removed.

It's been <ahem> rather a busy day...

Anyway, now you've started a new thread, we'll leave this one standing but we did want to flag up that you appear to have left identifying details in the picture again...

Thanks.

whynotwhatknot · 19/10/2023 15:47

mine just says heres the link to book-did you actually book the appt then change your mind

OlderandwiserMaybe · 19/10/2023 15:48

You certainly wont be side-lined (Whatever that means) forever if you decline to have a booster on one occasion.
I refused a booster last year due to another condition I have and I was concerned about side effects. I'm now in a different situation and I've just booked a booster for this week - there was no issue whatsoever.
