The solo and the choir concert

I am in a choir and we have a concert in Saturday. I love singing and I know i am good at it (not big headed just been told by lots of people including professionals).

At the concert I am the only person who is singing a solo piece out of the two choirs preforming. Should I still do the preformance or wait until other people offer next time if there is one

What are you talking about? You've been given the solo, the running order is set. Stop humble bragging and deliver what you've been asked/told to do.

Maybe I'm missing something but why wouldn't you do the performance if you've been asked to sing a solo? Go for it and enjoy it! Someone else might get asked next time.

What you on about? You’re going to bail and let the whole rest of the choir down as there will then be no soloist? Why wouldn’t you sing if you love it so much? More info needed!

What exactly are you asking?

They asked for people to sing solo. I asked if I could put my name forward and I showed him the song I would like to sing. He was more then happy to let me have a spot in the concert

It has since transpired that no one else from our choir or the other choir involved in the concert has asked to do a solo.

I just dont want it to seem that I want to be the centre of attention

They asked for people to sing solo. You volunteered which they were happy with so I don't see what the problem is.

They asked for volunteers. You volunteered . They accepted. Definitely do it.

Maybe seeing you do it will encourage others next time

OK, so this is a concert of choral pieces and you are singing a song of your choice, without choir and it sounds like you feel a bit self conscious now that it turns out your the only solo performance in the concert?

Look, if you want to sing the solo, sing it. If you're worried people will think you're a terrible stage-hogger doing a solo, maybe say to whoever's running the concert that you didn't realise you'd be the only soloist and maybe could you save it for another concert when there's more solo spots. Personally I don't think you should worry what people think, go ahead and do it.
