To ask people not to decorate their gardens with fake spider web?

The stuff is hazardous to wildlife. Just drove past a front garden that was covered in the stuff.

I don't think your asking will be taken kindly. I would maybe post a leaflet through the door, though if I felt particularly strongly about something.

It’s not the decorations it’s the length of time. If people put that stuff up in 31/10 and took it down the next morning there’s such a small chance of harm.Why are people decorating now when Halloween is one night on 31/10. Everyone has gone mad! There’s a house near me that has had fake cobwebs for weeks all over the hedges.

YADNBU. Halloween never used to be like this. It's becoming as tatty and plasticky and fake as Christmas.

YANBU. I look at this stuff and just see more landfill and microplastics.

I’m not an anti-decoration Scrooge, but why not choose stuff that can be reused year on year. Or paper decorations.

I live Halloween decorations but I didn’t know this either.

I met a friend earlier for a catch up and I asked what she was doing for Halloween, re trick or treating etc, she said she was going to put some Halloween Dec's up with her son later and mentioned the 'cobwebs' I said 'ooohh, I saw an article earlier about people putting them in their hedges and it trapping birds' she said she'd not even thought of that, and wouldn't put them up now as she would feel bad if anything happened. I didn't say it in any sort of judgemental way as I'd not thought of the impact myself, although I don't put cobwebs up because of how fiddly it looks to put them up. But I'd definitely stay well clear now x
