I've been successfully on a diet since November and i'm just a few pounds off my 3 stone milestone. I've been really strict with myself. I have just started a new job and last night was on a really late shift so I shared a tiny portion of fish and chips which I wasn't allowed within the diet, but oh well, I deserved it! Now tonight I am having some friends over to celebrate the new job and they are all on at me for us to get a takeaway, pizza etc and I know we usually eat loads at these get-togethers. WIBU for me to start my diet again tomorrow?

I think sometimes a mad moment of eating something you shouldn't actually keeps you on your diet plan. If you forbid yourself everything you will give up easier. IMO

You've done really well. Two nights off won't kill you.

I've lost nine kg since Jan. Tonight I had half a tub of choc ice cream and one third of a blueberry pie. I've been working all week, I dug the allotment, I don't smoke, drink or play golf so sod it! I deserve it.

Tomorrow I shall be back on the straight and narrow.

Great that you've nearly reached your milestone, but then what? Surely you'll stick to a healthy routine otherwise you'll just put it all back on again and looking long term there will be times when you'll have a takeaway or eat something out of the ordinary. It's how you eat regularly that matters, not the odd days when you let it all go. Why shouldn't you give yourself a treat and enjoy it without feeling guilty. Don't worry about it and go back to it tomorrow.
