Would you downsize house to stay at home ?

I am going through a lot at the moment, after recently losing DP and will be a single mum to 3 including additional needs.
I am planning to move slightly near more family which DC also want.
the area is cheaper than our current area. If we also downsized buy a bedroom which would mean DC go from having their own room to not plus the location being cheaper I should be able to stay at home for 3 years and be a bit more of a hands on parents.

what would you do ?

How old are your DC, and how many of them? What are the additional needs, and does that affect if they need more space or wouldn’t be good sharing?

If for example you’ve got 2 preschoolers, then shared rooms would be a fine trade off for more time with a parent.

If you’ve got 2 different sex teens, used to their own space, not so good.

If you’ve got 3 DC, and 2 will need to now share and they also have a sibling with additional needs, which might mean other sacrifices for them, then that could be difficult.

I think it really depends on your situation.

How old are you your DC and would it bother them to share? With younger children my preference would be to be able to stay at home with them but if they’d resent sharing or it’d make life stressful in other ways then I wouldn’t
