Is this how French doors should be finished?

Nightmare of a week having windows replaced and french doors installed (previously a window)

We have had a few little issues with the fitter that were resolved.

  1. Ripped my bedding Confused they did replace this. All was fine, However he was quite rude the next morning, asking why I complained.
  2. Blood on bedding, carpets, kids beds.
  3. Constant moaning from fitter about end of week, putting in French doors. The company ended up providing him a labourer.
  4. Job over ran by 2 days, I had taken time off work and had to rearrange some meetings to cover the next two days (probably because he did half days 9-1)
  5. French doors left like this and my new hoover used to clean up the fine dust and rubble ...

I assume French doors shouldn't be left like this

Wow. Appalling.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 16/10/2023 19:59

That’s horrific 😱

Sorry it’s not worked out for you. Contact the window company ASAP.

Motnight · 16/10/2023 20:00

I have to ask, why did the builder have access to your bedding 😱

whenthelightsgoout1 · 16/10/2023 20:01

@Motnight well he replaced the bedroom window and looks like he dropped the corner of the window on my bed 😳

That's appalling.

No way you can accept that as a finished job.

And I'd be asking for a replacement hoover as well. High likely yours in now completely ruined. That sort of fine dust get into the workings.

Bloody hell!

Birdh0use · 16/10/2023 20:04

Bricks are mucky and needs sealant I think? Not sure it's watertight

whenthelightsgoout1 · 16/10/2023 20:05

@Birdh0use no we aren't convinced it is. The inside isn't quite so bad. Well the skirting board is interesting!

Jesus. That is terrible!

LovedmyRaleighChopper · 16/10/2023 20:17

Don’t pay them until they’ve refinished the sealing around the bricks! Awful job!

Scampuss · 16/10/2023 20:21

That is really bad.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 16/10/2023 20:24

Are those bricks broken or is it shite all over them?

I'd be very unhappy, and I'd want someone else to be sent to fix it, I wouldn't want him anywhere near my house after that shitshow.

How did blood get everywhere?!

LapsedRunnerC25k · 16/10/2023 20:28

Point 2.

blood on carpets, bedding & children’s beds?

What on earth? Why were they bleeding in all of those different rooms? Why were they bleeding at all?

WaitingForSunnyDays · 16/10/2023 20:35

They should definitely use their own vacuum cleaner!

whenthelightsgoout1 · 16/10/2023 20:58

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut @LapsedRunnerC25k his words were he kept catching himself on things.

Awful!

LapsedRunnerC25k · 16/10/2023 21:01

Honestly, it sounds like this fitter had never done it before. Cowboy trader. Awful

PantsToItAll · 16/10/2023 21:03

That’s awful and the blood too eeeewww. Complain complain complain. You have been sensible and taken photographs at least. Don’t pay anything until the company send someone ELSE to correct everything plus pay to replace bedding and damaged items inc hoover.

Unicorntastic · 16/10/2023 21:04

That’s awful work, I had French doors put in and Victorian brickwork rebuilt and you can’t tell it’s modern as the builder did such a good job (on behalf of a window company) . They should never be using anything of yours, that rubble ruins vacuums and as for the blood !

whenthelightsgoout1 · 16/10/2023 21:13

Thank you for all the replies, I'm on the verge of tears as it's going to be a lot more work again. It's been a really stressful week as it is juggling work, two kids, a toddler, 2 hyper cats and the mess 🤯 moving furniture around etc

I had a fun weekend of stopping the cats from getting into the walls 🤦🏽‍♀️ it shouldn't have been left like that as the owner came out this morning to check on things, shame he didn't stay to see the shoddy work an hour later 🤯
