Employers no longer ask where else you are interviewing?

Once upon a time I’m sure they did.

Now any mistakes let’s blame on candidates. But in 6 months I genuinely haven’t heard anyone ask where else are you interviewing? and it being questioned. Like unemployed people are expected to beckon to the click of fingers.

I've been in the workplace for over 20 years and have never, ever been asked that. Why would it be any of their business?

If they want to employ you, their offer needs to be better than either your current job or any other offers you receive... surely that goes without saying?

Merryoldgoat · 14/10/2023 00:01

I have never been asked that.

And I genuinely don't understand what you are saying with this. What mistakes, exactly?

Also this.

Weird thread.

Sumtimesiamgreen · 14/10/2023 00:03

Huh ? What are you on about ?

PinkMoscatoLover · 14/10/2023 00:04

I’m another who has never been asked that before

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 14/10/2023 00:04

In fact, the thread is so weird it comes across like it's written by a bot or something.

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/10/2023 00:05

Never been asked that. Only by recruiters who are trying to figure out if you're worth the punt on their time.

Insommmmnia · 14/10/2023 00:07

I've been interviewing for years and never asked that, why would I?

A recruitment agency maybe, but not at an interview

Whataretheodds · 14/10/2023 00:08

You sound disappointed not to be asked this- why is that?

jay55 · 14/10/2023 00:09

Only ever been asked by recruiters, who are usually fishing for leads.

I've no idea what any of this means.

Agency recruiters ask it to do new business with 😉

HaveSomeIntrospect · 14/10/2023 00:14

Again, never been asked this

Kweenbee · 14/10/2023 00:17

It was a standard question with graduate recruiters in the early 1990s but I've not heard it since. Then again, they also often used to ask you for twenty ideas on what you could do with a paperclip or a house brick and who you'd chuck out of the hit air balloon/off the raft first...

God, they must have recruited the cream of the crop with those filtering questions 😂

Have you been on the Lambrini? I can’t follow your thoughts here.

I’ve been recruiting for about 25 years, and I’ve never asked this question.

And I’ve no idea what you mean by candidate mistakes, or how that’s connected to your first point.

Have you had an unfortunate interview today?
