Got receipt for shopping but nothing pending on my bank account?

I went to Tesco yesterday and did a shop, spent around £60. Used the self service till, paid with my card, and got a receipt. Went onto my online banking this morning and nothing deducted or even pending in my account. Can anyone shed any light on why this might be? It's never happened before - everything comes up as pending instantly when I do a card transaction. Do I need to call my bank? Or just wait and see what happens? I have a receipt in front of me which says I made a card payment and for how much, so I'm assuming it's all above board!

Probably just a banking delay on behalf of tesco. Whenever I shop in Asda it always takes 2 days to show as a pending transaction. Presume the money is gone and if its a glitch somewhere don't stress tesco makes billions in profit!

Thanks for your reply! It threw me as I've never had this delay before with Tesco when I've used my card in store, it pretty much instantly shows up as pending. I'll assume the money is gone anyway as I'm sure it's likely to be taken in next few days!

I've noticed transactions sometimes take a few days to show up. Not sure about Tesco, but I've definitely noticed it occasionally with other shops.

My Tesco was having problems with card payments yesterday around 4:30ish - the contactless wasn’t working and it was hit and miss if the chip and pin was going through.

Tesco is really slow taking money from my account, technically I shouldn't be able to go overdrawn on my account but I can if I've been to Tesco. Sometimes it won't show for a couple of days.

What time yesterday? I went about 17:00 and there were staff on the door saying that contactless was down and could only pay by Chip and Pin or cash - allegedly this was nationwide.

Hmm interesting about the contactless thing being down yesterday. I was there at about the same time, 5pm. I attempted a contactless payment on the self service machine and it said it needed my pin, so I entered my pin. Then I got my receipt. But still no pending transaction on my account! Very odd.

Ah, I thought it was my Apple Pay playing up. I had to put in my PIN too. Unfortunately the transaction has shown up on my account. Oh well... 😀

Aldi are bad for this and can take several hours and sometimes days for the transaction to show up.

If you got a receipt it will have gone through, just takes 2-3 days to show up.

I had this a while ago at asda.
But after a few days it just went out. Skipped the ' pending' stage
