To be annoyed by this go fund me

Somebody I know has set up a go fund me to raise money for a £3000 vet bill for their puppy. On the details it said they do have pet insurance but cancelled it. Aibu to think it’s quite cheeky to ask and if they can’t afford the bills/insurance they should not have got a puppy?

No definitely NBU! That pup will require more than one vet visit in its lifetime to do a GFM is CF at its best! A neighbour of a friend did a GFM after having a baby during Covid and apparently the mum was lucky to survive.... even though it was her fourth child ( all quite young) she did a GFM for a pram and baby stuff but instead suddenly purchased a hot tub and had Astro turf put down, she never went into the tub or her kids still used the pram she already had and when novelty wore off she gave the hit tub to family member after 3 months.

YANBU Some people are trigger happy setting up a Go fund me.

YANBU, I know someone who spent a fortune buying a trendy breed associated with lots of known health issues. Dog ended up very unwell less than a year later with one of those issues and they immediately set up a Go Fund Me. Really annoyed me that they paid so much for a dog but then apparently couldn't fund its care.

people can't start go fund mes about whatever shit they want.
Don't donate if you don't want to.
I wouldn't donate to that!
But maybe her family and some friends might.. maybe people who really love dogs. I dunno but t's not really my, or your business

YABU in that go fund me allows folk to set these things up for a whole host of ridiculous reasons, so technically they're using it correctly.
The other person needs a better long term way of covering vet bills, such as saving up, insurance etc.

YANBU. Saw someone yesterday posting about not being able to afford to get her XL dog neutered. My first thought was how much she must have paid for the dog in the first place…

Yanbu. Insurance should be mandatory when getting an animal imo. If you can't afford it, you can't afford the animal.

Sounds like a scam - pick on a current topic eg 'XL Bully' and look for gullible people.
I only fund people I know - or the very occasional National ones (often legal costs).

YANBU that getting the puppy sounds unwise, but YABU about the GoFundMe.

Anyone is free to set up a fundraising request. We live in a world where people ask for donations - Boris Johnson being a top example with his wallpaper!

Just ignore the request.
