To be struggling so much to find school trousers

DS started school in September and I’m really struggling to find him some properly fitting school trousers. He has ASD and his fine motor skills aren’t the best so they need to be pull up ( no buttons or zips). I’ve tried George, Next and some from the local school uniform shop but they all start falling down like hipsters. I’ve tried different sizes and even the ones that feel a bit tight on the way up have the same problem. He always wore joggers at nursery and we never had this happen. Has anyone else had the same problem and did you find a solution?

I've always found marks good for school trousers and they do pull up ones

We have marks and spencer slim fit ones, they pull on and have adjustable elastic inside so they fit fairly well. Still hang quite low sometimes though and my little one isn't hugely slim!

If he’s got a diagnosis then can the school let him wear jogging bottoms as a reasonable adjustment?

We had similar issues. We use either the pull up type from Asda that have an elasticated back or Matalan do pull up trousers that have an adjustable waist.

Yep, I am finding it hugely challenging! After spending hours unpicking seams to tighten waist elastics and then also still having to shorten the trousers, I am now considering making his trousers from scratch. I reckon it would be less hassle!

Marks and Spencer’s have a range of uniform for children who struggle with dressing that sounds perfect fit your son! I think it’s called ‘easy dressing’ I got my son the easy dressing shirts last year they look like normal shirts with buttons but are Velcro.

H&M

Hey we have a seamstress take out zips and replace with velcro for our asd daughter.

I've just bought my son some slim fit ones from Sainsbury's and they are pull up.
