AIBU to expect a bit of love and affection

Wedding anniversary today.. don’t usually do gifts, I usually do a card but husband sometimes forgets. Didn’t bother this year, and neither did he. I did put up a soppy fb post and tagged him in, which he didn’t even acknowledge, still wasn’t too bothered because I’m not petty.

but did expect maybe some love and affection, and not him up in bed on his phone and watching tv whilst I’m trying to sleep from 10:30pm until now.

Doesn't seem like anniversaries are that big a deal to either of you to be honest. The watching TV whilst you're trying to sleep would annoy me any day though.

It doesn't sound like neither of you like each other anymore.

CraftyPance · 04/10/2023 00:12

You both sound like you're not into anniversaries

Did you tell him you wanted to celebrate romantically?

Are you romantic on other occasions?

What did you say in your soppy post, was it true?

No, we were going to go out this weekend, but we cancelled it for the time being as we have something important on next week.

yes , we usually are. He’s a very affectionate husband on the main, and makes an effort on Mother’s Day and birthdays etc!

my soppy post was 100% true, he’s on the whole a lovely husband and can’t fault him the majority of the time. Just the odd occasion lol

Me and DH barely acknowledged our anniversary this year 😅 We wished each other happy anniversary and did the 'ooh this time 18 years ago..' thing. He actually picked me up a box of chocolates that night when he went to the shop, to be fair. But, its not that big a deal anymore. We are so loving and affectionate with each other all the time, we don't need to try harder for one day. Its just a date on the calendar. It sounds like you have a similar relationship OP. Just enjoy having a nice, loving husband 365 days a year.
