What to do at home with toddler?

I have an 18 month old dd who goes to nursery two days a week where she does some lovely activities (painting, messy play etc).

I can't lie, I hate this sort of stuff at home. It creates so much mess and she loses interest after about a minute. But I try not to beat myself up too much because she gets the chance to do it at nursery.

But I really am struggling with things to do with her in the house. We spend a lot of time out of the house. We have some lovely walks and go to the park a lot. We go swimming, have lots of cafe trips and she even loves being pushed around the in trolley at Asda!

But at home all she does is wander from room to room picking stuff up and getting into things she shouldn't. We read books but she's too young to engage in actual 'play' and just walks off. Anything like blocks for example she just isn't interested in.

The only thing she will sit and do is watch CBeebies which I know isn't great but it's the only time I get to get anything done! Has anyone got any ideas?

My son is 2 years 2 months and he’s always been difficult when we have to stay at home. He’s got a little better as he’s got older and will play with more things but he’s so clingy that it’s still easier for me to take him out otherwise I have to literally play with him non stop all day 😬
i think 18 months is a difficult age in which they want/can do more but they’re still not quite at the independent play stage and sometimes it makes it very difficult! I find being at home quite limiting. I think it does depend on the child’s personality as well. Sorry I know none of this is helpful but just saying I know how you feel x

My daughter is 18 months too, there are some things that she loves playing with and will keep her entertained for a while....food/kitchen role play toys, farm animals, toy cars...she has a 3 year old brother so she basically wants to play with whatever he has! She also absolutely loves singing and dancing to nursery rhymes! But it's difficult to know what toys they enjoy at this age, they're all so different.

It sounds like your daughter is getting a great range of activities, with nursery and then getting out and about with you.
