It’s the Internet. You don’t need ID/proof of age or anything like that in order to sign up so this was always going to happen. I don’t think MN has become a victim of it’s own success when this is out of their hands. Trolls have been here for years

It's a bit of a different animal to the early days, yes. But back then there were messages from MNHQ asking us to chip in a fiver to pay for a server upgrade. Change was inevitable.

It is really boring that so many idiots like to troll the site for entertainment but I agree that did always happen, it's only the scale that has changed.

I found MN tracking down a school uniform fetishist across parenting sites back in 2007. They had a thing about kilts and safetypins. Their other fetish was big kids in cloth nappies.
That was back in 2007 and they still pop up to this day.
I find it really difficult to believe any posts on MN , it is far worse than other sites

I think allowing NC is the main problem on MN

The numbers have changed so much - I used to follow threads over several days, posters had time to think and come back with answers or explanations.
They move at a warp factor now and the original post is often largely ignored several pages later.

Also explains a lot in terms of conspiracy theory nutcases and general lack of willingness to think around here.

The troll hunters have become a real nuisance. Time MN banned them for a few days. Or forever if they don't keep to the rules.
