Do women get menopause sick pay?

ssd · 02/10/2023 21:52

Guess that's equality in motion

bridgetreilly · 02/10/2023 22:05

A year?!!!

ketchup07070 · 02/10/2023 22:13

Are women entitled to menstrual leave as well? I struggle on with epic bleeding, terrified I'll leak, wearing 3 pads at once, and a jumper round my waist. Now wonder if women can get time off for it.

A year?!!!

In the text it says staff total entitlement is up to 12 months sick pay depending on length of service and that menopause/andropause absences can be charged towards that total sick pay entitlement. It doesn’t say anyone gets an entire year off just for that.

bluetongue · 02/10/2023 22:25

I’m a woman and don’t even agree with that much sick leave for female menopause.

You just know the type of people that would take advantage of this and you also know the poor side left would just have to pick up their slack.

Hufflepods · 02/10/2023 22:25

Men can suffer negative health consequences to a drop in hormones just like women. Employees in the nhs are entitled to 12 months sick leave.

Where is the drama and outrage OP??

It’s not a year off for the menopause though, male or female. It’s just one of the things employees can be signed off sick for if their symptoms are bad enough and 12 months is NHS policy.
Just like some women are signed off sick for most of their pregnancy, some don’t need a single sick day. Some men or women might need 6 months off a manual role for a broken leg that requires lots of physio, others might need 2 weeks and can return to work on crutches.

Men DO NOT go through the menopause . Menopause is a very trying time physically and mentally for women. Why does everything have to come down to 'but men...'???

No one claimed men go through the menopause though. You’re getting bent out of shape over a daily mail headline, get a grip.

It’s a fucking joke surely
