To think ECG on watch looks weird?

I did an ECG on my Apple Watch. Had a brief chest pain early but it went away- I put it down to heartburn or whatever. Anyway, it said it didn’t show signs of AFib but I think the middle lines look very strange. Like they’re all scribbled together or something. Anyone able to read better than me? Any I did before, had lines much more in sync looking. Maybe I’m overthinking because I had covid a few weeks ago and was extra concerned about the brief chest pain. Was worried about pericarditis etc.

I’m not an expert so can’t give proper advice but will say mine looks weird if I move or breathe differently. did you adjust your finger or watch at that second?

If you’re worried and having any chest pain then I would definitely get it checked out.

The line in the middle is full of interference, it shows that you were moving most likely. You can tell because the bottom tracing is horizontal, the middle one is all wavy.

You should chat to your GP if you’re worried.

@Shlump oh thanks that’s really helpful! I must have just moved my hand then

@Hiddenvoice Thank you. It’s possible I moved my hand during it!

I do ecg's regularly at my work. The middle one definitely looks just like interference.

Destiny123 · 02/10/2023 21:23

Yeah middle line is just you were waving your arm around when it was reading

sproutsandparsnips · 02/10/2023 22:17

It's just interference from movement.
An ecg like this will only show rhythm. To look for anything else including signs of pericarditis you would need to have a 12 lead ecg.

Yes the ecg function on any watch is just a gimic. You could be having a massive heart attack and it could show a 'normal' tracing.

If you have any concerning symptoms discuss with either your GP if you mild/short lived, or A&E doc if you think possible emergency.
