Getting rings cut off

At the end of August I took my dog for a walk, I wasn’t holding her lead properly and she pulled slightly but I think it bent my finger back/at a funny angle. It was immensely painful at the time but within a few days the pain subsided a bit so assumed no break/fracture. I couldn’t get my rings off as my finger was so swollen and painful but not ridiculously painful. It went down slightly but 7 weeks later and I still can’t get them anywhere near off and it feels as if the circulation is getting cut off where the rings are digging in.

Firstly does anyone have any idea what I may have done and secondly has anyone had their rings cut off, would you give to a jeweller for that? And if so does anyone have any rough cost of getting platinum rings ‘welded’ back together after? 🤦‍♀️ Thank you . First picture is the swollen one, second picture is my other hand for reference!

Go to the fire station. It’s quick, no waiting round.

lots of videos on you tube using thread or dental floss. Try that … it worked for me in similar situation

My wedding ring is white and yellow gold and has beading on the edges. I broke my wrist in a bad fall. We got my engagement and eternity rings off (they were a tiny bit bigger) but the wedding ring wouldn't budge. It was cut off at hospital and I had surgery later.

A local independent jeweller resized it and repaired it with laser. It isn't perfect but after 30 years that's fine. The repair cost £185. I nearly fell off the chair as the ring cost £160 in 1991. I nearly fell off again when the jeweller said "seriously, it's 18ct and heavier than it looks, you'd pay £2k for that today" !!!!!!!!

Had to have mine cut at a hospital due to an injury. Hurt like hell at the time. The way my ring is designed it had to be cut at multiple points to get off. Took it to my jeweler and the fixed them both up like new. I think it was a couple of hundred to get them fixed.

I had mine cut off at a fire station too, I had an MRI the next day and I'd tried everything I could at home, I didn't even think of a jewellers though, I feel bad for taking up the fire fighters time now

I watched the Barnsley hospital programme a few days ago. A young lad needed his ring removing and went to the hospital. They tried several different tools, none worked, and the doctor called the fire station and the WHOLE crew AND fire engine turned up to cut it off, (still took them over an hour) so I wouldn't worry that you turned up at the station!!

😂That does make me feel better thank you!

Have you tried the dental floss method yet? My rings were incredibly tight and having tried everything, was looking like I’d have to have them cut off (after a bit of a scare when I had to have them taped up for an MRI). Tried this and amazingly it worked. Good luck!

How to Remove a Stuck Ring (Hint: Dental Floss is Involved)

If you've ever tried on a ring that's a size too small, you're familiar with a certain sense of panic. While cooling your hand or holding it above your head ...

I had to have my engagement ring cut off after a horse riding accident, I went to a local jeweller, he cut the ring off for free, then I left him with it to repair it.

It wasn't until years later that I realised he'd stolen the diamonds and replaced them with cubic zirconia 😞
