watched Open House again tonight and honestly although lots of folk seem to think living out their fantasy is a good idea, it rarely is

I think people who choose to do this sort of thing on TV are more likely to be idiots without the emotional intelligence to handle something like that.

DH and I went to a couple of killing kittens parties in our early twenties and also slept with friends at some fairly wild parties in one of their London crash pads. 10 years and a couple of kids later we are now monogamous, at least for now. No time, bandwidth, both quite senior in work so not worth the headache of bumping into someone, and v happy with our sex life.

We may go back to that sort of thing again one day but it's not on the radar for now.

I think when a relationship is precarious messing around like that is a dangerous thing to do, especially if you've built up a bit of sex as a "fantasy". To some of us it's not that much of a big deal.

I think it's as grim as fuck. Also somewhat hilarious that one of the people in each couple wants to do it so badly, and then regrets it almost instantly. (It's usually the woman driving it in this show. which is odd as it's usually men who are desperate to go swinging.)

You must have to be desperate for attention and TV fame to go on this. Imagine if it was someone you know, like a neighbour or work colleague?! I couldn't look them in the eye again, ever. Seriously.

The one woman on last night who wanted to be 'spit-roasted, (and was! 🤮 ) was as rough as a bag of spanners. She seems desperate to be shagged by as many men as possible. I have known a few women like this, and they seem to have this odd idea that if lots of men shag them it means they're desirable/ fanciable/ gorgeous/ sexy. Errr, no love. Some men will shag a hole in a bin bag full of rubbish.

Swinging is deeply odd, and a dangerous thing to to in any relationship. These weirdos who do it always say 'monogamy is boring.' Well I think swinging is fucking weird and freaky, and you can't think much of your partner if you do it.

Me and my husband started as fuck buddies. We have never fully closed our relationship. We have periods of more and less monogamy but it has to work for both of us. We both have high pressured jobs and sex is our vice some people gamble, drink, do drugs and this is how we like to unwind. We are a very stable and strong couple it's great for our communication. It's surprisingly often women led. But we would never go on TV about it. People in the lifestyle are normal nice people it's not all about sex we enjoy the social side. we have made some of our best friends on the scene.

I’ve noticed it’s seems to be the woman in the relationship more often than not who seems to be the main reason the couple is there. I’ve seen a lot of upset men on it!

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to try this but
A-its not for me
B-don't think trying it in front of TV cameras is the best idea...

Yep I notice this too. In this show, it's the women wanting to do it. But when her man starts to get into it/enjoy it, she starts throwing her toys out of the pram! Wants to get shagged herself and have her man watch. But doesn't want him to have fun. In real life, I think it's the other way around.

I hadn't heard of this programme so looked it up. Open relationships can work and I have nothing against the idea if both parties are willing, but a lot of the time they don't work becauseboth parties aren't really willing and one party is trying to please the other.

The idea of trying up persuade people into it seems ethically dubious to me. If you need persuading, you shouldn't be trying it.
