Vodafone Customer Service - Just unacceptable

Hi,

So I should start by saying, I know I'm not being unreasonable. I have received absolutely dreadful customer service from Vodafone, especially over the past year or two, but I wanted to know if I'd just been incredibly unlucky or if this is a common theme, as it's honestly been one thing after another, so can't imagine it's just me.

Their chat is painfully slow and am often just passed around various departments where I have to explain the issue again...and again...and again. Their over the phone customer service is hardly any better. They never listen! Just keep repeating that they appreciate your patience etc, but nothing really gets resolved. I often feel like I've just wasted an hour of my day going through security questions, confirming that I am me, basically on a loop.

YABU - I'm a Vodafone customer and have never had any complaints.

YANBU - I'm a Vodafone customer and yes, their customer service is generally shocking.

They are absolutely terrible. I would have moved years ago but no one else has a signal where I live or work so I am stuck.

Seychal · 27/09/2023 20:21

This cannot possibly be right. Vodafone are a communications company. They have built their reputation and £22bn market value based on listening and talking.

It is inconceivable that a company in the communication sector can be so terribly bad at communicating with their customers.

You cannot possibly be right OP.

Ha ha!

Look at the providers that piggyback on Vodaphone. I had the same issue but now with Lebara and got a good deal to switch. Money saving expert

Walkacrossthesand · 27/09/2023 21:34

I gave up on £250 cash back with them - it was supposed to arrive 3 months into contract, of course it takes a while to remember that, then start chasing, then they asked for a confirmation email that it turns out I never got.... I just gave up I'm afraid, which is probably what they rely on.

Gimjam · 27/09/2023 21:47

Yes they are terrible, if you have a complicated technical issue then it is a nightmare because their customer service are just not able to understand. However, I think they are so inept they have a made a billing error in my favour and I will not be telling them of this.

They are bad. One explanation for slow webchat may be that the agent is dealing with more than one customer at a time. I was supposed to do this in a previous job (up to three at a time). Luckily for me webchat was dead as everyone wanted phone advice. Im
sure there will be companies enforcing multiple chats.

This really annoys me. It's so rude! Not that I blame the agent, I blame the company. But I'm fed up with sitting there waiting while they clearly aren't dealing with my case. But if you tab away you get cut off.

If it’s just mobile phone then Lebara have given me zero issues for two years. SIM only account.

Do you get decent coverage? I'm with 3 not Vodafone but pretty fed up with them ATM.

RudsyFarmer · 28/09/2023 06:52

theres only one place I can’t get coverage but I think that’s a place where everyone has to have the same network. Everywhere else it’s excellent. I think Lebara piggy backs EE from memory.

Losttheplot23 · 28/09/2023 07:21

Ah, do clearly a real problem then.

@AtmosAtmos I did actually ask once why it was so slow and was told that they're chatting to multiple customers at once, which is just ridiculous!

O2 are just as bad .

The people seem to be trained to spout what ever the company line is amd never actually listen to what your complaint is .

WhatACluster · 28/09/2023 07:53

they are appalling…live chat is rubbish spend hours on the phone to explain the same situation again and again it gets so frustrating!

the only way we actually get anything sorted is to stand in store! once I did end up with around £200 compensation from them.

I remember dh was chased by them about a job they found him and told him repeatedly we want you to work for us…after a month dh realised that there wasn’t a job, despite Dh telling them there was no job and I’m not working for you they still called him about this non existent job was very bizarre, this was only 18 months ago.

I have just spent two hours attempting to talk to Vodaphone customer service, having wasted another hour on their stupid chat bot, & have achieved absolutely nothing. They’ve already changed me onto a pricier plan even though my contact hasn’t run out yet! They insist that it was installed 35 days before it actually was & are charging me for that. All she kept saying was “ our records are impeccable”, & you must be mistaken. Absolutely useless

OldTinHat · 10/11/2023 20:54

Old thread now @Pikkll but threaten social media exposure. That's the only way I managed to sort it out.

Libertass · 10/11/2023 20:56

Vodafone are crap. Switch to Tesco Mobile. Much better & much cheaper.

Polis · 10/11/2023 21:00

We have used them for broadband for the last four years. The only time we have had a problem they had somebody out to fix it the next day. I can’t really complain.

Hesma · 10/11/2023 21:19

I changed to Lebara, considerably cheaper, better service and same network. Vodafone is a pile of 💩

Pikkll · 11/11/2023 07:37

This is a home broadband, not mobile
