Anythink. Everythink

Is it just me or do people use everythink & anythink instead of everything & anything all the time now? Books, television, news... it really bugs me.

@MsFrost - I've having quite a stressful time so I've been immersing myself in easy to read novels that I can get engrossed in without having to work on the plot. So the last 3, Nicci French, Amanda Prowse & Jane Casey. Currently reading a Jodi Piccoult.

But is it written as dialogue?

MagpiePi · 25/09/2023 19:01

Using ‘f’ instead of ‘th’ irritates me.

It's a step up from anyFINK!

Am currently listening to an audiobook by a podcaster I love - I'm going to have to stop, buy the book again and read it myself as all of the 'wiv' 'worf' 'fings' 'uvver' etc are driving me BATTY!!

What about when people say “hospikul” instead of hospital

I have a friend from Bolton who says that.

And likkle.

SallyWD · 25/09/2023 19:42

To be honest, I noticed it far more frequently when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. Don't often hear it now.

The audacity of people having accents...

MariePaperRoses · 25/09/2023 19:56

Gemma Collins vibes.

crumblylancs · 25/09/2023 19:59

Or the worst methinks

DontGiveMeThatOldCrap · 25/09/2023 20:00

Don't get me started -

"Right" at the end of a statement - eg. "That's expensive, right", or "I know, right".

"Like" - " I was like tired, like, so I went to bed, like early"

Burgalry instead of burglary
cutelry instead of cutlery

Have you been watching Eastenders OP?

I did argue over hypochondriac and hyperchondriact once. I did doubt myself, but autocorrect is telling me I'm right. 😀
