What’s the point of calling it/themselves a feminist, if it means totally different things to people?

At this point, if someone says they are a feminist, you have no idea what their beliefs actually are, what they suuport - or don’t support.

Even the haters, who don’t like feminist or love to blame everything on ’feminists’, how? What even is feminism today?

Seriously.
You have feminist who watch pirn, think going/ men going to strip clubs is totally cool an fun.
I was told, on feminist site, that I’m inherently worth less because I don’t have kids! ON FEMINIST SITE, who claim to stand for all women.

And a lot of times it seems to be either about being fun-cool-we promise we live men-everything is so empowering-please no thinking.
Or then just infighting who is feminist and who isin’t.

Of course they aren’t a monolith, I understand that, but it’s like night vs day most of the time.

I swear, the hardest part of trying to be feminist, was the other feminists.

Not sure what the question is but I find it odd that your surprised that there is a wide range of views within feminism? It is pretty standard for there to be ´in group’ disagreements within any ideology - do all labour voters agree on all policies or issues- absolutely not? I think if you believe in gender equality and women’s rights, you can call your self feminist :)

Yes, I pointed it out in op.

if you believe in gender equality and women’s rights, you can call your self feminist

And this was the point:
No one agrees what those entails / what to do about it / nevermind how to begin making some changes.

For example, if one says sex industry is dangerous for women and girls, it dehumanizes and human trafficing is involved. Porn hurts so many people, something should be done. And make things better.
Another feminist jumps in and sayis sex work is empowering, you are being a ’swerf’ and puritanic, you are harming women with these views.

Now what?
Where to go from here?
And what someone who is only learning about feminism should believe?

But it's not new - feminism has always had different 'factions' with differing views and opinions - rad fem, socialist fem, liberal fem, etc

I've been a feminist for over 40 years and had some right debates with other feminists - it's politics and people have differing views

Apply critical thinking and engage in respectful thoughtful debate? Reflect on your views and remain open to other perspectives. Up to you to decide what kind of feminist you want to be, that’s kinda the beauty of it 😊

Okey, I can now see why it wasn’t for me.
I absolutely hate debating.
I want to have a common goal and start miving to get it.
I guess that’s where that went wrong.

a debate is just a discussion - an opportunity to share views and opinions. I think maybe you are sick of online debates which have a tenancy to get quickly polarised, petty or nitpicking . Encourage you to continue engaging with feminist literature and discussions in person :) please don’t give up on gender equality and women’s rights!

There's plenty of goals being worked towards by feminists. If the theorising and debate doesnt resonate, get active instead. Pick an issue that fires you with passion to make things better for women (there's plenty to choose from!) There will be other women who feel the same who are working on it, and the areas of agreement are more important than the differences.
