DP delayed - London Stansted parking - how can i talk to someone?

Sorry if a bit of a random one.
DH currently stuck in another EU country due to his flight being delayed because of the weather. As expected Ryanair have basically dumped everyone out at the exit and left them to fend for themselves.
We've managed to book a flight but he is now rushing to the city halfway across the country to catch it.
His parking is about to run out at Stansted.

I've tried amending the parking booking through the site we booked on but it won't let me. It is basically saying contact airport, when I call the number provided for the airport the voice says they now only accept email inquires🙄

I know this is a long shot but does anyone have any experience in this and knows where I can go from here?

This must happen all the time. Presumably he will just have to pay the extra when he collects his car, or they will charge his card. Which car park is he in?

ChannelyourinnerElsa · 18/09/2023 22:26

did he put his flight number in when booking the parking?

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 18/09/2023 22:26

Back in May we were delayed by over 24 hours coming home to Bristol airport. We thought we'd be charged when trying to leave the car parking area but the barriers let us out with no further charge/follow up.

When he booked the parking did he have to give a flight number? If so, they'll know his flight was delayed. It must happen all the time!

Was it Meet & Greet? When we used this at the short stay car park you could be up to 6 hours late and then they would charge you £25

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 18/09/2023 22:26

We had the same problem with Gatwick long stay parking when DH got stuck due to the air traffic control issue.

He was four days late in the end. The barrier didn't open for him so he had to use the call button and they released him. They didn't even charge us. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Gatwick long stay charge an extra £10 per 24 hrs you overstay supposedly, so I'd imagine Stansted is similar.

Saisong · 18/09/2023 22:28

Is it official airport parking?

I've found this number
Stansted Airport queries: 0808 169 7031

tenbob · 18/09/2023 22:28

Just get him to deal with it when he lands, the car park people won’t bat an eyelid

Most of the time, the barrier will lift as if he was on time. Worst case, he will get charged a bit extra

They deal with this ALL the time, so they aren’t going to give him a fine or clamp his car. Dont worry about wasting time on the phone trying to sort anything

Iwrotethelyricstoaxlf · 18/09/2023 22:29

He’ll just have to pay the extra at the barrier.

Saisong · 18/09/2023 22:33

These are the overstay charges (per day) at Stansted:
M&G and M&G Plus
£25.00
Valet
£25.00
Short Stay Yellow
£62.00
Short Stay Orange
£62.00
Short Stay Green

£62.00
Short Stay Blue
£62.00
Short Stay Red
£62.00
Mid Stay
£40.00
Long Stay
£40.00
Jet Parks
£40.00

So some are quite pricey!

UndercoverCop · 18/09/2023 22:33

We were 24 hours delayed this summer, couldn't get out pressed the help button at the barrier and they just let us out no extra charge

xJamOnToastx · 19/09/2023 00:55

I work here! They will understand, give them the flight number and they will be able to tell that he was delayed and they should let him
go 😊

MehtotheChristmasrunup · 19/09/2023 01:02

Gatwick and Heathrow only charge more if you are a day late. Not sure if that is from when you put in your exit time or actual days. I’ve been delayed loads and it’s never been a problem.

sparklins · 19/09/2023 10:19

Thank you all that is good to know!
I was pulled away after posting as we were sorting out all the logistics of trains ect! What a bloody nightmare this has been and now the weather here is looking grim and windy and I am worried about his secondary flight.

Fingers crossed he will be able to fly, he has been up pretty much all night travelling on the train for 6hrs and has just gotten through airport security.
