shaved fennel, romaine or any other leag in a orange/mustard vinaigrette with whatever herbs I have thrown in... orange segments on top.

does this class as a mumsnet massive salad?

Not massive enough! No protein? Would fill me up for about two minutes!

My favourite summer salad is watermelon black olive feta mint crab. Balsamic and olive oil.

No, it needs to be in a massive plastic bowl with a lid, so you can shake it.

@Funngames1 your idea sounds lovely! I'm gonna try it. been meaning to make a crab salad.... I see your point re protein and massiveness. I struggled to finish this portion though!

Peach and halloumi went down well.

Been making red cabbage coleslaw with vinegar and oil dressing all summer too.

I like chopped dates in a salad, and anchovies yum.

My neighbour does this salad for our get togethers and it’s really nice! I think she puts in parmesan shavings though.

@BarrelOfOtters I've been meaning to try a watermelon salad but this year the quality hasn't been the best. what do you put in yours? peach and halloumi sounds gorgeous too..

@FrenchandSaunders 😂😂that sounds like something I would do. I often just point at the menu if I am dicey on the pronunciation. I have to say I prefer a salmon nicoise though.

@Simplepink I'm in the Midlands and have my heating on and wearing a fleece! salad season is definitely coming to an end... thought I would get a few more in before bringing out the casserole pots.
