Retail people - how’s the last month or two been?

Fashion retailer here and have to say business nose dived over the summer, I’m wondering if others have noticed it too? Usually when times are tough we can rely on the tourists buying tax free items to keep the momentum running but since tax free isn’t a thing in the UK any more it’s been dire to say the least especially when goods bought in Europe are tax free.

I dont see any signs of it getting better, the naff summer weather actually drove footfall indoors but had little impact on turnover. I know times are hard but the financial crisis has impacted more than I thought and is seemingly across the board.

Just curious to know how it’s been for others? Will autumn and the Christmas ‘rush’ save us?

Footwear retailer here (in tourist driven area). Our branch is is targeted at 2% on last years sales. We’re currently sitting at +9% on target for the year to date.

Fully expecting that to dip as we head into the winter which is much quieter for us due to location but hoping still to achieve target this year. Based on previous winter sales drops we’re forecasting ending the year +3% on target.

We were expecting a much quieter year than what we’ve had so far tbh! I know our branches in other locations (mainly larger cities!) have struggled
