To think owning a home is the zenith?

I know there will be a lot of people struggling with mortgages (sorry) and perhaps other things - but I am 44 and never managed to buy a house and never will. Single mum, always not enough money, private rent ludicrous.

I am never jealous of people and am happy for them, but my siblings earn more from their property value than I earn from working so I realise I am just probably permanently stuck chasing my tail.

I saw a post today from someone who'd finished paying off their mortgage. Oh, such a dream sounds amazing, to know you had that security.

Anyone else feel like this?

It makes me sad that 25 years ago it was so easy and now it's impossible!

I count my blessings every day that at the age of 40 I was able to buy a little house. I’ll be paying the mortgage til I’m 70, but I never forget how lucky I am.

Renting is fucking shit, and I get so angry with homeowners who pretend that it’s so easy and flexible to be a renter. I’m sorry that you’re stuck. It sucks.
