Anybody work in insurance? How can I insure animals at home, when I live abroad?

I have moved overseas and now am not resident for the purposes of taking out an insurance policy. But nobody here will insure horses in another country.

Am I not searching for the right terms? I can't seem to see a way round this?

I dont work I insurance but deal with similar at work.

  1. You can call an insurance broker and ask if they can create a bespoke policy.
  1. Most insurance companies won't touch international insurance due to jurisdiction differences.
  1. Best bet us to get a family member in the UK to do for you

Are you trying to get insurance with companies based in the UK or in your new country that you are resident in?
And are the horses in the UK?

I don't think you can insure something you don't own.

PP is right though - it will be v difficult/impossible to either
•find an insurer on one country who will offer cover for something in another county
•sell an incurable policy for something in one country to someone living in another country.

You can insurance anything you have a financial stake in. Sell 1% of your horse to a family member and it's sorted.

Thanks, all. Glad to see it's not just my being inept and this seems to be a genuinely difficult insurance to find/ buy.

This might be the best way forward then, thank you!

Yes, exactly. I had assumed this wasn't possible in any way.

I'd get insurance anywhere tbh. With anyone who would sell me a legit policy, be it here or at home.

Horses are at home and I'm not, which is the whole problem as I am not habitually resident in the same country as them!
