To just be sick of this ?

I know these threads never go down well but I am a bit pissed off.
I am 38 and mistaken for a lot younger. I am new at work and a colleague asked my age so I told her and she was really shocked. Said she thought I was about 22. It was just us in the room. I had the week off work and when I came in this morning they were all discussing it, saying they couldn't believe my age and how 'sarah' (colleague who asked my age had told them all ) and how I come across as 'so young'. They kept on and on and made me feel pretty crap. Aibu to say that this colleague shouldn't have told everyone my age?

They sound rude - but on the other hand a lot of people would be flattered?

I remember after whipping out my ID to buy a bottle of wine, not only the shop assistant but the entire queue behind me disbelieving I was old enough to buy alcohol let alone in my 30's.

I thought it was a good laugh, exchanged a few jokes and went on with my day

I don't think it's completely unreasonable for her mention to them how she was shocked at finding out your actual age, as it doesn't sound like you asked her to keep it secret. I do think it's a bit much for them to keep going on about it though, that's quite rude IMHO.

At 38 you should be able to ask what was meant by 'come across younger'. Do you do a ditsy etc act?

I just think at my age it shouldn't be broadcast. If I were younger, say 27 but looked 20, then fine. But after a certain point, you don't want everyone knowing your age.
I just thought it was unnecessary for her to tell everyone and for them to all go on about it.
