Wrong time of the month to see GP!

I finally organised myself enough to phone GP to make an appointment to talk about HRT. The brain fog of menopause makes it quite hard to manage this sort of thing at the moment.

Receptionist was very friendly but apparently this is ‘a funny time of the month to want to see the GP’??!!

You can still try ringing at 8am for same day appointments, but they won’t have any more pre-booked appointments until October’s schedule is released on Thursday.

Am I the idiot for thinking this is a bit weird? Anyway, I have to phone again on Thursday and see what’s available then.

It is weird

I've just made a thread about HRT, I have visited my gp countless times and get fobbed off.
I am actually at the point where I am suicidal now and they still fob me off with a pamphlet about talking services

Why does it feel like they do not want to give out HRT, why the fuck do they take this on themselves to decide

I mean they should tell people the risk and let them decide for themselves.

I wonder how many women die of suicide cos they get fobbed off

Maybe she meant with children going back to school and busy with parents catching up on appts they couldn't do in the summer? Does seem odd though. Perhaps they get booked up for the month quickly in the first few days. Seems weird though - you don't know you'll be I'll in advance!

I joined a GP practice in 2000 and I could get an appointment same day or at least in the same week for the next 15 years. Then around 2015, like the flick of a light switch, it became the situation as we know it now in 2023. Call at 08:30. On hold for 10 minutes. Call gets answered, nope, all appointments gone for the day. Repeat repeat. Because of this, I haven't seen a GP since 2016. Same GP practice.

What is causing this?

They obviously release the pre- bookable appointments once a month and you’ve happened to ring a few days before the next batch was released. Hence, being the wrong time of month.
