AIBU telling friend of conversation with her partner?

My friend's partner was telling me last week exactly how much my friend earns, something I have zero interest in, but not something she'd told me anyway. Also, that there's no point him working because of the amount she earns.

He also said that her mum should give up her retirement job so that she can visit them abroad more easily. He said it was low paid, and he'd even cover her loss of earnings. Now, I said it would probably be a bad move to suggest this to the outlaws as retirement jobs are often about keeping a structured framework to the week, social life and enjoyment.

He asked me not to tell my friend about what he'd said.

So, should I tell my friend? Or just ignore it? I don't want to be interfering, but he was full on money motivated and blabbing about quite personal information.

I'd stay out of it. Does he actually work himself?

Nope

Tell her, no one wants to own a cocklodger.

How long have they been together?

why do you think he felt so comfortable confiding in you/keeping secrets?

if my primary relationship/loyalty is to her as a friend, then I’d think I would make a comment.

You should have been more assertive at the time and said 'don't expect me to keep secrets from my friend for you'.

Regardless of whether that information is useful to her, he's trying to get you to collude with him and put his needs before hers. So disrespectful.

Yep.
He doesn’t deserve for you to keep his nasty little plans a secret from your friend.

How can he cover her loss of earnings with no job?

Summerlovin24 · 03/10/2023 09:49

Yanbu
My mum does this when on phone to her friend who I know well. I say no I don't want to talk to her but Mum ignores me and puts phone on loud speaker and thrusts it into my face
So annoying

I wouldn't keep secrets from my friend, especially if she was living with a cock lodger
