AIBU by not wanting my dad to live with me?

Long story short I’m 26 years old with a boyfriend and a child who is 4 m old. I’m living in a 2 bed flat. My dad who is in his 60s broke up with my mum and my mum kicked him out. Instead of finding somewhere for himself to live he’s chose the easy option and is living with me. I just want my own space with my baby and my boyfriend. AIBU to want him to find a place?

I can't fathom as a parent moving in to a 2 bed flat with my daughter, her boyfriend and their child. YANBU but why did you agree in the first place? You make it sound like he just walked in and set up camp.

Yanbu give him a few days notice to be kind h then he's gone

What do you mean he’s now living with you, did he ask? Make it clear to him it’s temporary and he needs to find his own place. Can you say that your baby will need to be going into their own room at 6 months so that gives a nice 2 month deadline?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/09/2023 15:02

Yeah you need to ask him to move out.

I can understand on a very short term basis why he’d crash there but not any longer.

Hi. I wanted to give him a bit of time to try and sort somewhere for hisself to live instead of him being homeless, but he’s still living with me months later.

Have you spoke to him and asked how the property hunt has been going? May give a gentle hint

Ask him to leave by the end of week/month, whatever you're happy with. What's the problem with saying that OP?

Sporkle99 · 11/09/2023 15:05

Is he paying you rent?

This give him 7 days if he is really annoying your bf or a month if he isn't to leave.

She doesn't want him paying rent as it is easier to kick out an unwanted guest.

I'm more curious to know whether her dad has been living rent free for the past few months

If he can't afford a flat to rent then he should rent a room in a HMO.
