Taking troubled teen away somewhere for a couple of weeks…

Would this be an unreasonable idea? He’s 15 and smoking weed, taking ketamine, skiving school and just generally angry and miserable.

I was thinking of taking him away for a couple of weeks to Canada or somewhere, a complete change of scenery and something with a bit of team building?

If so then where? Canada? Somewhere closer?

I absolutely would. Are there organised trips like this for parents and teens perhaps?

Amazing, yes.

Can I venture that this type of behaviour is often down to something underlying so some good quality therapy would be beneficial too?

Is he doin gone drug taking with fiends or alone

Ahh OP I'm sorry.

I've no advice on anywhere to take him away, but when I was 16-19 me and my friends all smoked weed, did mdma/coke/ket, a lot of us dropped out of college or got shit results. It's been over a decade and I'm still in touch with some, Facebook friends with all and it's all very normal now. Lots of us are married with children, regularly see posts of them buying houses, celebrating engagements/pregnancies, everyone in normal/good jobs. I always thought what we did was normal, but I've spoken to my old siblings and on reflection my group definitely took things further than a lot of others but we all grew out of it, even a couple of the boys back then that really went hard and I worried it might of gone further than just teenage fun. Sorry rambly and might not be much reassurance.. but I hope he grows up and out of it and quickly.
