To not know how to feel about last dose of fluoxetine?

I’ve been on 40mg of fluoxetine for the last 3 years or so. Started taking it after a break up, house move, new job and covid with a toddler. It was for anxiety and it really helped.

over the last year the anxiety has crept back in a little but I am able to manage it and life so decided to come off it.

I have been very slowly tapering down for the last 10 weeks and this is my last week on around 3mg. I have felt brilliant to be honest! Had some anxiety but that coincided with something in my life worthy and it was manageable.

The biggest thing I have noticed is my sex drive and ability to orgasm return, which is fabulous.

my last dose is Thursday and I’m a bit worried about it! No idea why as I don’t feel I need or want it but I’m so used to popping the tablets every day.

I am expecting a bit of withdrawal once I finish and I’m ready for that.

anybody else come off fluoxetine or another SSRI and been ok?

thank you if you got this far!

Well done! This is exactly how it’s meant to go in an ideal world. Be on it for a year or two and then taper off. If you’re still feeling good in a month or two once it’s fully out of your system you are winning at life.

I kept an extra prescription unused for a while just in case. I never needed it but it did give me comfort. So I'd do that. To be honest I kept forgetting to take them once I was better so weaning wasn't too big an issue.

Yes, I have about 4 boxes in the cupboard so I know it’s there if I desperately need it. Really hope I don’t!

You won't you're stronger now. My GP likened it to my having a flat battery that was now fully recharged

That is an excellent way to put it! Thank you for that
