Are these mites or spiders? Do I need to hire a pest control services?

Hello, hope all well. Our entire family has all of a sudden got some itchy raised bumps on body, mostly legs. No signs of bed bugs but I have noticed these red tiny spider like bugs crawling on the carpet and our bedroom walls. What can they be? Do I need to hire professionals to get rid of it or is there any natural nontoxic way out of it? If these are spider mites , then Google says they don't bite but we all are breaking out into rashes (we all suffer from various seasonal and dust allergies). I am very concerned 😭 first image is a really good closeup, second for reference.

Ticks?

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 00:56

I don't think because ticks get lodged into the skin and has to be physically removed ,also I believe they're bigger in size as these are tiniest red spider looking things.

Ticks are small or bc depending on their age/species. They often have a bite before settling. They’re arachnids so I suppose similar to baby spiders to look at. The red colour is likely blood. Squash one and see?

Ohthatsabitshit · 11/09/2023 01:00

If you keep chickens or hang out with birds they might be red mites?

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 01:06

@Ohthatsabitshit We have no pets. We do have a garden and I agree with you they look like more red mites. Do you have any idea how can I deal with it?

As per your other message, I squashed one and it doesn't look like blood. They look quite similar to this picture

The spray I posted kills all sorts of crawlies ime 😬

Got rid of a carpet beetle infestation with it!

They really don't look like ticks to me.

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 01:10

Can you catch one in a clear tub and get a close up pic?

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 01:19

@QuestionableMouse yes will do that tomorrow. I tried to get one under a sticky tape but it got squashed.

Dunno what those are called but they’re benign. So don’t kill them. Clover mites, perhaps

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 07:01

@MereDintofPandiculation I hope so 🥺

ThunderCloudsinSumer · 11/09/2023 07:36

That are not benign op and her family are being bitten. I'd go with newly hatched spiders

ThunderCloudsinSumer · 11/09/2023 07:37

In your pic it doesn't look red. Is it red ruddy legs and black body?

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 09:30

@ThunderCloudsinSumer it's kind of reddish brown, it does look like it has a black body. I have seen it hanging itself from the paper and the table where I took the photos so it should be baby spiders.

Money spiders. Their bites do cause mild irritation and itchiness but are not dangerous. Use cleaning stuff with lemon and peppermint scents and they will likely vacate quicksmart as they don't like the smell and usually tend to live in bushy shrubs outside anyway.

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 10:51

@Balloonhearts thank you, really appreciate you all helping me 🤗

For those of you suggesting Indorex spray, please could you tell me how you use it to keep spiders out of the house? I can find instructions about using it for pet fleas which say spray around the room then leave the room for a while. Also read that one can will do a 3 bed house which implies you don’t need to use a lot. How often do you reapply?

Should I spray the edges of carpets, around windows etc or just up in the air? I’m thinking of getting some.

Thanks

QuestionableMouse · 11/09/2023 11:36

I've not used it directly for spiders but you spray it down at the carpet/floor or soft furnishings. Do a nice even coating then leave it to dry before hoovering. It says to hoover once every day for seven days but that's to kill fleas. I have cats so treat the house about once every three months which works for me! I also rarely see spiders so something must be working 😁

They are definitely money spiders - I'd be tempted to strip the beds right back and check around the frames. A steam cleaner is the nuclear option if you have loads, or you can use strongly scented stuff to evict them.

SleepyTinker · 11/09/2023 12:01

@QuestionableMouse yes surely will do that too...thanks xx

How are you getting on?

SleepyTinker · 24/09/2023 23:56

They are now turned into big spiders( 1 cm big), like I have seen one yesterday and one today but they are only biting me now!! I am spraying the rooms ever other day, I believe it has worked massively that only couple of those things are around. Hoping to get rid of them soon. Thank you for checking on us, really appreciate it 😊
