To not understand what men’s obsession is with Calvin Klein

Semi lighthearted but DH and DS (16) both only wear that one brand and I honestly don’t get it. What’s the point of spending a ridiculously inflated price for a wasteband (which is the only real difference between CK and primark or any other brand) that no one will see anyway 🤷‍♀️. Is this just me or is anyone else’s DH/DS like this? Anyone else just not get it at all?

Not just you, my husband spends a fortune on them. They never last, still end up with holes. I completely agree!

Hermittrismegistus · 07/09/2023 15:34

DH wears George of Asda.

TheAOEAztec · 07/09/2023 15:53

Tbf the underwear laated conaiderably longer than primark to DH so moneywiae worked

Loadedbydeath · 07/09/2023 15:56

M and S here...

Masterofhappydays · 07/09/2023 15:57

No idea. But I wear super expensive underwear because I like to, so I’m not gunna judge your CK pant loving offspring and husband! My DH wears target boxers, low cost!

TroysMammy · 07/09/2023 16:01

You mean they don't walk around with the waistband on show?

Beenaboutabit · 07/09/2023 16:07

Cheaper brands tend to be bum-munched and/or the elastic goes.

you get what you pay for

Bobbotgegrinch · 07/09/2023 16:10

Because they've heard of it. I'm male and could probably name 5 brands of women's underwear due to advertising and walking past shops (and because I spend enough time on Mumsnet that Googles targeted advertising has decided I'm a woman), however as far as men's brands I can only really think of Calvin Klein. As a result, if a man decides he wants some "nice" undies he just gets Calvin Kleins.

Personally I'm sat with a drawer full of Tesco own brand though, so the power of the Calvin Kleins has no effect on me.

OtterAnimagus · 07/09/2023 16:22

DH used to because that's what MIL used to buy him. She thinks that you should always be in you best pants incase you are in an accident!

This amused me

Mine wears bench and smith and Jones and obviously never has waistband showing, I'd be mortified 🤣

Tinytigertail · 07/09/2023 16:53

I really like CK underwear, it's comfortable sits well under my clothes and washes well. The waistband is the only but I don't really like about it!

LubaLuca · 07/09/2023 16:54

It's a safe option. Plain and something a bit more 'special' than M&S. It's hard for men to be anything but predictable with their underwear, they're very limited as a pp rightly noted.

Itick8outof10boxes · 07/09/2023 16:58

I hate seeing men wandering around with pant waist bands on show or worse still half a hairy arse, Urgh ! Just want to grab the waist band of their trousers and yank it back up!😆

5foot5 · 07/09/2023 17:15

Not my DH!

We are on holiday at the moment and he has forgotten to pack his trunks. We went for a wander today to see if we could buy him some. First place we found any was a Galerie Lafayette (we are in France.) They were Calvin Klein and eye wateringly expensive, cheapest were about 80 euros. He was outraged.

Fortunately we found another shop further up the street where he got some perfectly serviceable ones for 20 euros.

10HailMarys · 07/09/2023 17:27

I haven’t noticed any men being ‘obsessed’ with Calvin Klein really - I assume they just like a posher pant and CK are the ones they’ve heard of. I suppose we all like a little indulgence, don’t we? CK pants are theirs.

allthehops · 07/09/2023 17:33

They're crap quality so I don't know why they bother.

The best branded ones that seem to last and wash well are Levi's.

ThePoshUns · 07/09/2023 17:39

I find it quite useful as I have 2 adult sons.
One wears Calvin Klein boxers, the other Under Armour.
Makes it much easier to sort the washing out.

As for their socks....
