Anyone been to A&E london/essex/Herts with lowish wait times

Just that really... I need to go to A&E with my baby and I went at the weekend and the wait times were 5hrs and we were the first there. This was in Barnet, so please don't suggest there as they are desperately overcrowded right now due to lack of staff (a nurse from Chase Farm told me). Thank you!

If your baby is sick it doesnt matter the wait time, baby will be seen asap if very poorly

Every day / Night will be different

Baby doesn't appear to be sick, but has non blanching spots on the leg which bloods came back clear on Sunday night. I saw a private paediatrician who confirmed that it is likely to just be a viral infection when more came up on the same leg 2 days ago.

You don’t need to go to A&E if you have already been seen about this

Phone your GP when they open

This isn't an a&e job- it's a gp appointment?

Why would you return for the same thing that came up two days ago? You need to call your GP surely?

Stressedoutforever · 07/09/2023 06:08

You need a GP.. also A&E isn't you get seen in order of arrival, you get seen in order of urgency, 5 hours is pretty standard too. During winter pressures a 26 hour wait was fairly common in our local hospital!

Has your babys condition changed op?
