To ask how you can make money when on mat leave?

Shamelessly posting here for traffic.

Currently on mat leave and had been relying on doing kit days to boost my income during the last 3 months when I'm not getting paid. Unfortunately we've been let down with childcare and it's making it really hard for me to actually do any kit days. Dh is coming into a very busy period in work and can't be flexible with his hours during this time.

So I'm hoping that some of you have examples of how you've made a little extra income when you've been off? I'm not overly crafty or good at making/ baking things and we've cut out all non essential spends. Aside from selling some bits on ebay does anyone have any ideas? Genuinely getting worried about how we'll pay upfront nursery fees and afford Xmas.

Depends what your line of work is? I’m a teacher so I’ve done some tutoring before when out of work. I’ve also got some dog walking and pets sitting through an app called Next Door which links you up with other people in your neighbourhood.

Selling stuff on eBay or vinted. Using survey sites such as you gov, AttaPoll etc.

I would recommend following a subreddit called beermoneyuk. Gives lots of sites and apps to earn a few extra £. You won't become a millionaire but it's easy little tasks.

I funded three years of me staying at home with DS by doing matched betting. MSE forums have lots of info about it.

Evening/weekend work when DH can watch baby. A couple of shifts in a café/restaurant a week?

It's 2024 but I am now in a dilemma. Does doing survey counts as self employed? I hope my SMP won't be stopped because I do polls, testing and surveys? Thank you

Yes this seems the best bet to me.

Do you have a car, what about delivery driving? My BIL makes £80 an evening.
