People who owe you money but don't pay it

I booked bottomless brunch for my birthday - deposit was £180 (10pp). I paid it after getting yes from everyone who was happy to attend and pay their deposit. Half sent the money straight away, 5 of them have read it and ignored it. I'm currently out of pocket by £50 because I'm waiting for them to send me their £10. I don't want to keep chasing but it's been 4 days and I think that takes the piss?

Get the money before paying in future, I think

It's very annoying, been more so when you're in the 'pay it almost the minute you're asked' camp like me!

If this occurred at the end of a bottomless brunch then I can see how they may have easily forgotten. Just send them a message.

Send them a message saying your credit card payment is due, so please can you have the money by X date. This has worked for me in the past.

Are they expecting to settle up and sort the deposit once you've had the brunch maybe?

'My credit card payment is due, I don't have spare funds to pay off any unpaid deposits so will have to pass on any interest payments incurred, therefor please forward your deposit money on or before x date'

Add "If i don't receive your deposit by xx date. I will have to cancel your place"
