To feel judged in the corner shop

BigOldBlue1 · 02/09/2023 14:27

I only go there to buy crap. Like today, I went to buy cigarettes, wine, crisps and chocolate.

I know rationally they don't give a shit but I always feel like they must think I live like a troll

I started taking my ASOS returns to other post offices because I was worried mine was judging me for returning too much, even though I know rationally they probably don't care, so I understand where you're coming from.

HowardKirksConscience · 02/09/2023 14:34

Are you joking… you’re their favourite customer. They make their money from
cigarettes and booze. The people who go in for a pint of milk are the ones they judge!

Can you get me 20 Silk Cut while you’re there? Cheers

AdoraBell · 02/09/2023 14:36

You’re overthinking it, enjoy your treats.

WanOvaryKenobi · 02/09/2023 17:39

As a former corner shop worker, or "conveniently situated Asian entrepreneur" as I used to call myself, we don't care. We get in extra stock for regulars and we're more than happy to sell it.

Needmorelego · 02/09/2023 17:42

You are 99% of the typical corner shop customer. That's what the purpose of a corner shop is 😂
I've just bought bottle of Bounty Milk, Bottle of Barr Cola and a Galaxy chocolate bar.
Didn't have enough loose change for crisps.

HermioneWeasley · 02/09/2023 17:56

They absolutely do not care. If you don’t try and rob the place, they do not think about you or what you’re buying

Thewizardbinbag · 02/09/2023 17:58

That’s what most people buy in the current shop. That’s why they’re mostly full of junk plus milk and bread. That’s what people buy there. Why are iI even thinking about this?

TiredArse · 02/09/2023 18:00

Nobody goes to the corner shop for salad. They’re only for sweets, crisps and booze. And the odd pint of milk or loaf of bread.

LuvSmallDogs · 02/09/2023 18:01

They don't care how much booze you buy, as long as you're not so far gone you're pissing yourself in the shop or stumbling in with a bleeding head wound when you go to buy it.

PattyDuckface · 02/09/2023 18:02

You could try and impress them with some healthy choices next time... alternatively you could buy what you want and forget about what anyone thinks or doesn't think.

transformandriseup · 02/09/2023 18:03

We visit my dad every Saturday and buy processed rubbish for lunch. I don't care if we are judged.

Cowlover89 · 02/09/2023 18:11

Enjoy your treats x

Sparklesocks · 02/09/2023 18:13

They’ll have so many people coming and going they’ll most likely barely notice!

uhohdoor · 02/09/2023 18:15

They won’t care. Change up where you go?

LovingMyLiver · 02/09/2023 18:22

I deliberately go into my local shop when I'm NOT buying alcohol to secretly show them I can be respectable. Especially if I'm buying something really normal like a magazine and a bag of carrots!

"Look at me, I can be normal!"
