How on earth do I get my jewellery valued?

I'm in York.

I've gone into a few jewellers and they say they have to send the items away, I don't want to do that.

Does anyone know any jewellers in North or East Yorkshire that does valuations?

We are on Southport and there are loads of jewellers that give valuations. Come and have a day out.

you can get a valuation by going to an auction house with a jewellery department there maybe a charge for valuations for insurance purposes but if you wanted to sell no charge,

There is a big difference between insurance value which is what it would cost you to replace item and what it would sell for; the insurance value can be 2-3 times the resale value

Most jewellers do send items away for valuation. It’s quite unusual to find one who doesn’t. There is one in Winchester but that’s not much help.
