I’m 49
Active sex life with DH
period is six days late - always bang on and no peri signs ever.
Had very sore boobs a week ago then chocolate cravings but no period

we don’t use contraception as I was sterilised seven years ago.

am I being a dumbass thinking I might need to do a test?

Is it not more likely to be meno? Especially if you've been sterilised.

SlashBeef · 01/09/2023 16:38

I would do one, then you'll know either way. Would it be bad or good news for you?

Don't leave us without an update. I insist upon it 🔨 (closest to a gavel I could get)

caerdydd12 · 01/09/2023 16:39

A sign of perimenopause is irregular periods so I'd assume in this case you do in fact have symptoms and this is just one of them. It would be unusual to have been steralised so long ago and be pregnant now.

FionnulaTheCooler · 01/09/2023 16:41

It's not completely impossible but I'd say it's highly unlikely that your sterilisation has failed and you've conceived naturally at 49, more likely to be the start of menopausal symptoms. Take a test just in case though.

Minfilia · 01/09/2023 16:53

At 50 and having been sterilised I’d say the chances of being pregnant are about as close to zero as you will get! I wouldn’t worry.

Mintblueskygreen · 01/09/2023 16:55

Unlikely but not impossible!

Mimmy352 · 01/09/2023 18:27

The possibility is low but low isn’t zero. You might as well take a test, even if it’s just for peace of mind. Best of luck, I hope the result you get is the one you’re looking for!!

Zanatdy · 01/09/2023 18:29

you could test to ease your concern but I highly doubt it would be possible

PollyAmour · 01/09/2023 18:32

It's almost certainly the menopause. I had no menopause symptoms whatsoever, my periods just stopped at the age of 48. I appreciate I am very lucky, having read the health issues a lot of women experience.

AmygdaIa · 01/09/2023 18:47

Hmmm ok, assuming it’s meno.
Thanks for the reassurance

and NO, it would be a disaster, I have three teenagers and enjoy a busy life and lots of sleep 🤣

It's not impossible, but not likely. POAS for peace of mind.

This!

LavaMonkey · 01/09/2023 18:50

Nope.
Menopause.

Soz

samuelclemens · 01/09/2023 18:50

I would have it would be next to impossible considering age and previous sterilisation. Hopefully you’ll have peace of mind soon.

AmygdaIa · 04/09/2023 07:19

Negative pregnancy test so presumably the dreaded meno is coming for me!
