What is the point in the M&S Club Reward?

Just that exactly!
Like a mug, I have been paying £10 into this scheme for several years and am left wondering why? I bought 3 pairs of trousers online, to try on with the plan of keeping the best fit, used my £15 reward voucher for the purchase. Yesterday I returned 2 pairs and in my refund they took £5 off each pair, basically keeping £10 of my money for themselves. I mean really! According to customer services this is what they do!
Fed up with the whole thing, I used to love M&S but this club rewards thing is a joke. So am I being unreasonable, I can pay £10 a month and they can treat me like this or should I tell them where to put their rewards scheme?

If you buy something using a voucher and return it then it’s normal for the proportion of that purchase that was on a voucher to not be refunded in cash but surely they should have given that bit as another voucher?

Haha, I had exactly the same discussion with DH last night! It's a load of crap.

I haven't joined, by the way, but they keep sending me leaflets - currently offering a welcome gift of a £25 voucher.....but even that's not enough to tempt me.

Most of the "freebies" are free cups of coffee.....but I don't think I have ever in my life bought an M&S coffee - there aren't any cafes nearby.

And the vouchers are a mixed blessing, because they are less than the value of an item of clothing so you always end up spending more than the value of the voucher.

Free postage - irrelevant - I always order into store, then try on and return at the same place. I never pay postage.

Birthday gift - whooppee!

Sorry M&S, I'll keep buying from you, but I'm not wasting £120 a year on essentially nothing of value to me.

Exactly, or taken the full voucher amount of the item you keep.

You are so right, I feel like I’ve been conned. I’ve emailed them to leave asap.

I spend quite a lot in M&S on either clothes for the kids and I or homeware. I've got their credit card and upgraded to the Rewards version. The main draw for me was the promise of free next day delivery. Trouble is, whenever I select next day delivery at the checkout, it only ever gives me options for delivery on days that are 3-4 working days later. Granted the delivery fee is waived but it's definitely not what is advertised. I've even found that delivery is quicker if I just select the usual free delivery option that is available without the rewards card.
I do quite like getting the vouchers and coffee tokens but I keep meaning to complain to them about the delivery. It annoys me every time I place an order!
