Sorry, asking here for traffic as I know it’s busy and many of you would have been through this.

DS is almost 17 and really keen on starting driving lessons as soon as he’s able. We have driving lessons booked.

Really need to know which of the above helped your DC to pass their theory. Did they struggle? If so which one helped them the most?

I passed my test in 1989 when the theory test wasn’t a thing!

Thank you 🙏🏻

Let DC work it out for themselves they're an adult now. Intrusive parents are so annoying

PinkiOcelot · 30/08/2023 22:50

My dd had a book full of test papers and we just went through them. I think I got that at The Works. There’s also an app where you can do the interactive question.

Good luck to your DS.

It’s hardly intrusive giving DC a helping hand!

The online practise one helped the most. I bought a book too but can’t remember which but they said the online questions and hazard perception helped the most.

You have to Google the question bank, there’s about 700+ questions. My ds learnt from them and called out to me or dh if he wanted clarification.

Chasingsquirrels · 30/08/2023 22:55

DS2 read the Highway Code and then did practice tests on the app.

DS1 just did practice tests.

I class myself as helpful rather than annoying.

Absolutely the official app, I think it's the one name 4 in 1 driving test theory. I only passed a out 4 years ago so still quite new to it all. My DH passed this way this year too.
It's easy to access I used to do it like a game when I was on the train or just sat watching TV. I'd say anything as easy to access as possible.
The app also has like tests, done in 5,10,20 questions so it's not as daunting as sitting down to study with a book.

BoohooWoohoo · 31/08/2023 00:36

I bought dd and ds the app and they both passed first time.
have you ordered him a provisional license and booked a theory test? My ds sat his theory on the day after his 17th birthday.

Ds did some practice questions online, but one thing he also found helpful (possibly because he's a poor sleeper, so uses podcasts a lot) was it turns out quite a few podcasts exist, of driving instructors going through questions, they'd give you the options, pause for you to answer and then discuss the answer. He found it went in more when he listened to it.
